Maslenitsa Slavic Spring Festival in Minnesota in 2025

🎉 A Joyful Maslenitsa Slavic Festival with Over 700 Guests! 🎭🥞

On March 2nd, more than 700 people gathered at Fish Lake Regional Park to celebrate the final day of Maslenitsa — a vibrant Slavic holiday marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The event ran from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and brought together families, friends, and community members of all ages for an afternoon of joy, laughter, and cultural traditions. The park was transformed into a festive village with music in the air.

Forming traditional circle dances, joining relay races, and taking part in hands-on workshops were only a few offered activities. Fairy tale performance drew the youngest audience, with little ones giggling and clapping along. Meanwhile, the children’s market offered handmade crafts, friendship bracelets, and cheerful drawings created by young entrepreneurs. Families posed at the festive photo zone, where props like shawls and wooden spoons made for playful snapshots.

Of course, the smell of freshly made blini was impossible to resist! Volunteers flipped thousands of thin pancakes, offering them with sweet toppings like jam and honey or savory options like sour cream and butter. Hot tea and coffee helped everyone stay warm. Local artisans displayed their crafts — from hand-knit mittens to folk art — while live singers and dancers kept the crowd clapping along. As the celebration wrapped up, smiles and full bellies proved that Maslenitsa was a huge success. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
