Meet Our Summer Intern: Anna from Macalester College

We’re thrilled to welcome Anna to the American Russian Center as our Summer 2025 Intern! Anna joins us from Macalester College, where she is pursuing a double major in Russian Studies and Data Science. This summer, she will be deeply involved in several of our key initiatives:

  • Developing and implementing cultural training for volunteers working with the Russian-speaking community
  • Assisting with translation and administrative support
  • Supporting Russian-language immersion programs and summer camps, including our NSA funded STARTALK Russian immersion program

Anna brings a thoughtful perspective and diverse skill set to her role. Her passion for language, culture, and community engagement make her a great fit for the Center. We’re lucky to have her on board and can’t wait to see all she’ll contribute this summer! Here's a message from her.

“My name is Anna, and I’m excited to be interning for the American Russian Center this summer!
When I was younger I lived in Ukraine, which sparked my interest in Eastern European history, politics, and Slavic languages. Now I am a student at Macalester College, studying Russian Studies and data science. I have enjoyed working on projects that bridge the gap between these disciplines, such as creating a web page to highlight Russian immigrant experiences or a machine learning tool to classify Soviet archival data. I am excited for the opportunity to continue learning and engaging with the Twin Cities Russian-speaking community.”
